JURNAL: PERANCANGAN SISTEM INFORMASI MONITORING PERKEMBANGAN SKRIPSI DAN EARLY WARNING BERBASIS SMS GATEWAY PADA PRODI INFORMATIKA FAK. TEKNIK UNTAN

Abstract

The process of counseling student thesis has been done often assessed sluggish, causing students and faculty not to a strict schedule so that construction consultation thesis thesis students become protracted and even abandoned. Therefore, for the sake of time efficiency and performance of lecturers and students, we need a system that can monitor and report on progress of thesis students to students, faculty and parents of students. The purpose of this study was to produce a system of monitoring the development of information and early warning of thesis-based SMS gateway that can assist in the completion of the thesis writing process to run smoothly and optimally. Information systems are built to provide student progress reports skirpsi, recapitulation students mentored by faculty, students report past its guidance and early warning in the form of SMS messages automatically sent to the mobile phones of students, faculty and parents of students if there are students who do not do counseling thesis within the allotted time. The results of the analysis and testing of black-box methods shows that an information system monitoring and early warning of thesis-based SMS gateway can run well and help facilitate communication between faculty and students in the process of ongoing counseling thesis.

Pendahuluan

Pada Program Studi Teknik Informatika Fakultas Teknik Universitas Tanjungpura telah menerapkan alur penyusunan tugas akhir yang terdiri dari tiga tahap yaitu praoutline, Tugas Akhir 1 (TA1) dan Tugas Akhir 2 (TA2). Untuk proses praoutline menuju TA1 Program Studi Teknik Informatika Fakultas Teknik Universitas Tanjungpura sudah didukung oleh Sistem Pendukung Outline Tugas Akhir (SPOTA) sedangkan untuk memantau dan mengevaluasi perkembangan TA2 mahasiswa menggunakan kartu kemajuan penulisan skripsi yang berfungsi untuk mengukur kemajuan penulisan skripsi. Perkembangan konsultasi baik pada TA1 dan TA2 yang dituliskan pada kartu kemajuan penulisan skripsi, saat ini masih berupa lembaran kertas yang memiliki beberapa kelemahan diantaranya adalah pada saat melakukan konsultasi skripsi, kartu kemajuan penulisan skripsi tersebut terkadang tidak dibawa oleh mahasiswa atau masih dipegang oleh dosen pembimbing yang lainnya. Dengan demikian maka dosen tidak akan mengetahui siapa saja mahasiswa bimbingan yang telah mengajukan skripsi dan jadwal terakhir mahasiswa bimbingan melakukan konsultasi.
